We need responsible and enthusiastic stagehands as well as skilled technicians who are willing to put in an honest day’s work for an honest wage.


The Stage Monkeys are AB5 compliant and pay great wages based on services rendered. We have minimum calls, pay overtime and follow standard CA labor laws. Good Resources on What it is to be a Stagehand

The video to the left, as well as the website below, have some good information on what it is to be a stagehand.  Please refer to them prior to submitting your application (and after as a refresher!)

Position Descriptions:

Stagehand: The Stagehand responsibilities include but are not limited to assisting in general labor such as load-in, set-up, strike and load-out. The main role of the Stagehand is to assist with laborious tasks such as running and taping down cables, building truss, pipe and drape, scaffolding, pushing / lifting of heavy cases and various pieces of equipment. Stagehands will know how to properly identify, run, tape and coil all cable types. Stagehands have knowledge to assist building lighting truss, assist building video screens, assist with basic audio, lighting, and carpentry work. Stagehands are NOT SKILLED LABOR. Stagehands are not relied upon to be free thinkers and they require guidance and direction from their department always leads. The Stagehand can be utilized in all show environments.

A1 (Audio Engineer): Our experienced audio engineers will ensure your speakers and audio materials are heard with clarity. Through careful sound balancing and adjustments, the dynamic and audio effects will be effective and bold. We can also help capture and record live speaker sessions and music.


A2 (Audio Tech/Assistant): The A2 assists the A1 with the setup and strike of the entire audio system. The A2’s responsibilities include, but are not limited to leading the audio assists, takes lead role and responsibility of running cables, back of house setup (A2 world) with wireless microphones, wired and wireless intercom systems, assembly of speakers / line arrays. A2s can be utilized in all show environments and are qualified for all run of show duties like management of microphones, microphone frequencies, microphone rotation and microphone placement while interfacing with clients and talent.


Camera Operator: A Camera Operator’s responsibilities include but are not limited to build and operate all fixed broadcast/studio configured cameras, regardless of lens configuration. A Camera Operator is primarily used in the General Session and large Breakout Room environment.


L1 (Lighting Engineer): The L1 works closely with the LD and directs the set/strike of the entire lighting system. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to directing fixture placement, assignment of dimmer patches, power/signal distribution, console programming, and final focus and operation of the lighting console. The L1 is primarily used in the General Session and large Breakout Room environment.


L2 (Lighting Assist): The L2 assists the L1 with the set and strike of the entire lighting system. The L2’s responsibilities include but are not limited to assisting the L1 with truss building, fixture placement, power/signal distribution and focusing. The L2 can be utilized in all show environments.


Spot Operator: The Spot Operator is proficient at operating various types of spotlights and is comfortable taking cues on intercom from the Show Director.
